About Me: My real name is Paul, but am called Radar at work, because I look a little like the TV character "Radar" from the TV series M*A*S*H. Married with two beautiful daughters. I love sports, and I LOVE bowling! Have really gotten into it over the past three months or so. My 5 year old daughter is also a bowling lover. We started an adult/child league at our local alley two weeks ago, and are doing pretty well so far. I have an average of about 158, but it has swollen to an average of 189 for the 8 league games I have bowled in so far. My personal best high game is 222 which I got on March 16th in my first league game of the week. I love to ride my bike, and love golf and soccer.
Music: Billy Joel is my all time favorite, but I also like Country music
Movies: I enjoy action/ adventure movies, as well as spy type movies, like the Bourne movies. I also like movies like the Lord of the Rings trilogy. I don't really have a favorite movie.
TV: Like to watch ESPN, as well as history and nature shows, especially medical programs as well as shows that deal with the Pharohs of ancient Egypt.
Books: Don't really get a chance to read too many any more, but when I did, I enjoyed Dean Koontz and Michael Crichton's books.
Likes: Food, sports, hunting, fishing, bowling, golf, camping, spending time with my wife and kids, woodworking.
Hobbies: Hunting, fishing, bowling, golf, spending time with my wife and kids, woodworking.
Heroes: My father, JFK and my wife

    Another dismal performance

Yesterday was week 10 in the adult child league that my daughter and I are in. I have never bowled on a lane that was that heavy with oil. I had absolutely no hook at all. It was like I was bowling with a straight ball. I ended up moving in to the center mark on the floor just so I had a chance at hitting the head pin. I bowled a 161-157, which is far below my average of 179 in the league. We are quickly tumbling in the standings, but the league is really just for fun anyway.

I can't wait for the Experience league to start.

    My latest games

Monday, April 28, 2008, 09:48 AM CST [General]

Well, my latest games have been hit or miss, or so it seems. Last Wednesday, I got in three quick games for a practice session, and did decent. I had games of 177-202-191 for a decent series of 570, my third highest ever.

Then yesterday, I go into my first league game and toss a freakin' 138!! I left 4 open frames in a row to start out, and that pretty much doomed me. I finished that game strong though, with three strikes in a row. The second game of the league was a 177, which was mildly better but didn't do much for my league average which nose dived by three pins plus yesterday. Now my league average is 176. My goal is a league average of 180 so with three weeks left in this league, I need to put together a few games in the 180s or 190s with a few 200s plus thrown in for good measure.

Anyway, for the heck of it, I threw a third game to see if I could get my game back. I threw the ball much better in this game, and finished up with a 201. I had no open frames at all in this game, until the very last ball. I just missed dropping the final pin. Hopefully, that form will stay with me next weekend, so I can do that again. Oh well.

    Radar,
Well just keep in mind now if your kid would like to go to college and bowl for a top team he/she can bowl till he/she is 21. That would be the way to go. You can get your college paid for. But if you bowl for any money before your 21 then you can't bowl for any High School or College.

Thanks for the encouragement. I am very proud of my average this year, as it will be a personal high. I am always pushing myself to do a little better, even though I am already at a high level.

    Radar,
Yes I use a plastic ball for all my spares. I use the Maxim myself but I have used the White Dot too. Just so you know all the plastic balls are the same as for the core and block. So it's just a matter of the color you like. Thanks again. Vance
